After a short period of left leaning governments that prevailed in Latin America, in the last years a wave of Neo fascists with nazi tendencies is over taking Latin America and many countries around the world. Not so surprisingly, the United States like in the past is giving full enthusiastic support to these regimes [PX]. Indeed, evidence show the US has been behind these Neo fascist taking power. For an example just remember back on 2014 US fully supported groups such the Azov Battalion and C14, in order to overthrow Viktor Yanukovych to install a US puppet. These group depict themselves with pride as neo-nazis and many of their members after the coup were put in the Ukrainian National guard [The Gray Zone Sep 23 2019]. Another case on point is the US support of Voluntad Popular in Venezuela, a political party that has connections with characters such as Diego Cubillos, Eduardo Romano or Alfredo Devia , well known Colombian leaders of the neo-nazi group “tercera fuerza” (third force) [La Iguana Apr 1 2014].
For many, this support doesn’t come as a surprise. Trump is very open in supporting authoritarian regimes, but democrats are not better, they are fully compromised in supporting far right groups in Latin American and on the world. Just to call some examples, the Obama family has a close friendship with billionaire Richard Branson who is an enthusiastic promoter of removing the democratically elected government of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela [USA Supreme Nov 3 2018]. In addition, representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been very open to receive Ana Carola Traverso, a representative of the Bolivian dictatorship who took down elected president Evo Morales on 2019. By contrast, AOC slams the door on the face any group with links to anti intervention movements [CounterPunch Feb 14 2020]. Just keep in mind when US puppet Guaido was presented in Congress by trump, DNC leader Nancy Pellossi jumped out her chair to applaud this character who has links with Neo nazi groups and narco lords [La Iguana Apr 1 2014].
During the last months of 2019, many countries under US proxy regimes erupted in massive protests. These governments responded repressing in the best style of the 70’s and 80’s dictatorships. In fact, at least two countries declared state of emergency. This happened in Colombia and Brazil where all citizens’ rights were suspended. Many were beat, many were put in prison, many were killed, and even it seems some were murdered and disappeared. On all of those cases the US kept giving support to those governments. Far away of trying to understand the people taking the streets, the US joined the ridiculous accusations of the oppressive regimes saying the Venezuelan government was behind these protests conspiring to take down pro US leaders.
We must highlight that during the massive 2019 protests, the governments demanded total obedience to repress the people on the streets. In Chile, President Pinera declared they were in “war” with the protesters. There was the case of David Veloso Codoceo, a soldier that was put in jail for refusing to follow orders [Pagina12 Nov 1 2019]. Also in Ecuador, right after the protests of 2019 , Moreno removed Roque Moreira and Javier Pérez, two army officers who were not very convinced that the orders to repress people were legal or constitutional. Both had to be replaced with Luis Lara and Luis Altamirano, who seemed to be more obedient. We must point out, the removing these two officers were celebrated by the left as a success apparently because the indigenous leaders had demanded those actions. We must keep in mind, protesters overwhelmingly demanded Moreno to be ousted and to put in court those ministers giving orders to go after protesters, those being María Paula Romo and Oswaldo Jarrín [SputnikNews Oct 16 2019]. If we want an example of how far these tyrannic regimes are going to get, just take the example of the street artist Daniela Carrasco who was seen taken by the police and later was found hung in park [El Tribuno Nov 21 2019].
One key characteristic in some top US backed regimes is the disregard of indigenous communities. In countries such as Honduras, Colombia and Brazil the genocide of indigenous communities is just an accepted reality of progress. In the case of Jair Bolsonaro, he thinks progress is more important than environment and indigenous communities [Democracy Now Apr 10 2020]. During the 2020 pandemic, Mayor Arthur Virgílio Neto, mayor of Manaus accused President Bolsonaro of intentional genocide. We must point out that since Bolsonaro took power the average of murders of environmental activists went from two to three being killed every week [Democracy Now Sep 9 2019]. The level of racism is evident even on countries with a large indigenous population. During the 2019 protests in Ecuador, when the Moreno was ousted from the capital, he had to run to Guayaquil to be protected by far right party PSC leaders, Cithia Viteri and Jaime Nebot. Indigenous groups decided to take their way to that city to get Moreno to which Nebot stated the indigenous better stay at the highlands, a reference that in Ecuador is taken in a racist way [Vistazo Oct 9 2019]. Also in Bolivia during the 2019 coup, the first week of the dictatorship the defacto regime committed two massacres and dedicated to burn the Wiphala flag, a symbol of the indigenous people of America.
It is impossible to ignore some top US allies in the world that no one would forget. A top ally of the US is Israel, a regime where the Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman who openly says snipers shooting unarmed Palestinian along the Gaza border fence “deserve a medal. As we should know, the total disregard for the human condition of Palestinians by the Israeli government is always either ignored, accepted and sometimes celebrated by the US authorities [The Intercept Apr 10 2018]. Another top ally is Mohammed bin Salman, who besides having great relation with the US, also the media has portrayed him as a positive change in the region after he took power. We shouldn’t forget this dictator has presided over HHRR crimes in Yemen, has mass arrested group that oppose his rule, including his own family and US intelligence has determined he was behind the loathsome murder of journalist Jamal Kashogi [The Guardian Jun 19 2019].
It is time to go through some of these US proxy regimes in Latin America and how tyrannic and authoritarian they are becoming. In Brazil we have the case of the Bolsonaro family, that are behind assassination rings that are responsible for assassinations of activist such as Marielle Franco. The Brazilian president himself has said that the police officer that doesn’t kill is not a police officer. Bolsonaro is so in love with authoritarianism that appointed Paulo Guedes as the Economy Minister, a character that had worked in Chile for Augusto Pinochet as one of the infamous Chicago boys.
In Chile we know President Sebastian Pinera himself was a great beneficiary of the Pinochet dictatorship, but on top of that his administration has been surrounded by a fair amount of Pinochet circle figures including Pinochet’s family such as Macarena Santelices. However the most prominent cases were Andrés Chadwick and Hernán Larraín. The last one, besides being a Pinochet enthusiast he also had links with nazi enclave Colonia Dignidad, and with the Nazi pedophile Paul Shäfer [The Guardian Jan 23 2018].
Let’ see the case of Lenin Moreno in Ecuador, a self declared leftist that occasionally celebrates the legacy of Che Guevara but totally sold out to the banking elite and to Jaime Nebot and Abdala Bucaram, both leaders close to the US agenda. Early in his government showed the disregard for human life when on a civil confrontation the police killed Andrés Padilla shooting him from behind. Despite the video evidence showing the police committed murder on an inocente person, the government gave total support to the police actions [El Comercio Dec 26 2019]. Another revealing case of the Moreno government was the kidnap of journalists Javier Ortega, Paúl Rivas and Efraín Segarra. The insurgent Colombian army behind this kidnap demanded negotiations with the Ecuadorian government, but Moreno refused to do so and the journalists were murderer. Sometime later an audio was leaked where on the time of the kidnap Moreno says that the dignity of the state is beyond the life of those journalists [Caracol Dec 20 2018]. These are just very few cases of the fascist character of the current Ecuadorian government that early on stated the goal of extirpate the “Correa movement” (descorreizar).
Former president Alvaro Uribe, who pretty much is the puppeteer controlling president Ivan Duque, openly questions his rivals telling them “either you get silent, or we’ll silence you” [Caracol Dec 9 2019]. Other interesting case the case of the Pablo Escobar’s body guard John Jairo Velásquez Vásquez how despite being a self confessed killer of hundreds, he walked free threatening to kill those who confronted him for his murders. However, that is the least of the concerns on this country ruled for decades for a narco elite that directly benefits from the war on drugs agenda, that has Colombia and the main exporter of cocaine on the world. On top of the drug business, the arm trade and the human trafficking is an additional gain for those same benefactors of the war on drugs. Keep in mind that the US has at least seven military bases in Colombia to fight the drug trade.
All of these points we have gone through are just surface level observations. There are plenty of evidence on any of these regimes to be tyrannic organizations and they are fully backed by the US establishment. Keep in mind, the United Nations has warned that ethno-nationalism is on the rise and authoritarian governments are exploiting the 2020 pandemic to crack down on human rights instead of saving lives [United Nations 23 April 2020].
